Anger About Abundant Acronyms (AAAA)

I don’t know how you feel about this plague upon modern society, but I’m against it!

When I was growing up we had acronyms; USA-United States of America, USPS- United States Postal Service, NFL-National Football League and others.

I knew them, I think we all knew them. They weren’t overwhelming like, I believe, they are now.

I received an E-Mail from a supervisor the other day and he threw no less than 13 acronyms in his two paragraph E-Mail. They were mostly work related, but I didn’t recognize many of them. I ended up deleting the post.

I recall, back when the acronym craze was starting, it was an unwritten rule that the first time you used an acronym you would write out the title and place the acronym in parenthesis after it, like I did tongue in cheek in the title. Now they are often just thrown in, and they are everywhere!

I’ll start by cautioning DBEYR. This warning is contrary to the DILLIGAS attitude some of my posts may convey. ILY as people who read what I have to write, but I am, IMHO, onto something that is real here. I believe FUD IRL comes from not knowing WTF is going on because the acronyms have taken over.

While I was writing this I went AFK for an hour but I knew I would BBIAB, BTW I have a BEG on because, I assume, I’ve lost most of you. B4N but I’ll BRB and I’ll BCNU then. This silliness was to exaggerate the exaggerated use of acronyms in today’s society. A translation follows.

TRANSLATION:

I’ll start by cautioning don’t believe everything you read. This warning is contrary to the do I look like I give a sh** attitude some of my posts may convey. I love you as people who read what I have to write, but I am, in my humble opinion, onto something here. I believe fear uncertainty and disinformation in real life comes from not knowing what the fu** is going on because the acronyms have taken over.

While I was writing this I went away from the computer for an hour but I knew I would be back in a bit, by the way I have a big evil grin on because, I assume, I’ve lost most of you. Bye for now but I’ll be right back and I’ll be seeing you then. This silliness was to exaggerate the exaggerated use of acronyms in today’s society.

I may be alone here. I may not be. I encourage you to let me know how you feel.

If you like this post please like and share it. If you didn’t please comment.

Thanks.

NOTE: I googled common acronyms to write my spoof piece.
