THINGS TO THINK ABOUT 06/04/21

As a regular Friday Blog, I plan to touch on topics I feel are important to consider as citizens and responsible adults in a free country. Without trying to be too melodramatic I suggest that some of these points may be keys to retaining our free society. Maybe I go to far, if you think so, let me know.

In the following weeks I may repeat some of these points, add new thoughts and try to give fresh views of what is happening socially, politically and even in the sports world. I hope you enjoy this new feature and I would appreciate your comments to help me present this material in the best possible ways.

GLOBAL WARMING: Is it a real thing? If there is strong scientific proof of it why are those who present it as “A proven fact” so hesitant to debate about it or allow dissenting views?

ELECTION SECURITY: Can a free republic survive if non citizens are allowed to vote? Do you believe that non-citizens have the country or themselves in mind when they are allowed to cast their illegal votes.? Do you believe it’s harder for minority citizens to attain a certified form of identification? Does it seem contradictory that people who are declaring that “All people are equal” are trying to change established rules to make it easier for minorities to vote? Does it seem hypocritical that some politicians are saying that voter ID laws are discriminatory because minorities do not have access to identification even though ID’s are required to board airline flights, buy alcohol, receive medical services, drive a motor vehicle, attend the political conventions of both parties there are many more examples available if you need them.

ELECTION SECURITY II: Why is it that when Trump says he feels there were numerous problems with the 2020 election, and cites examples, the main stream media and democrats discredit him completely? In a Washington Post 12/10/2020 article we read “Responding to Trump’s bogus claims….” as a lead in the article. The same paper (Washington Post Jan. 9, 2017) “We assess Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered an influence campaign in 2016 aimed at the US presidential election.” Oddly enough Trump’s claims have never been tried in the courts while the claims of election improprieties in 2016 have been thoroughly investigated and disproven more than once. There are many more examples that I have covered in previous blogs. The point here is that I question why it is acceptable that one side of arguments can be blocked. Whatever side you choose in any argument, it makes sense that you are not actually “choosing” if you are not allowed to evaluate both sides and scrutinize all of the information available. Just today Facebook announced that former President Trump would be suspended for two years while they allow many other Facebook members to post incendiary comments without comment. Just saying.

ARE THE “STIMULUS CHECKS” HELPFUL OR HARMFUL? I have disagreed with the forced business shutdowns and other restrictions of our freedoms as our government’s reaction to a disease that was dangerous, but not nearly as deadly as projected. I also object to the government’s new practice of giving more and more money to a point that it is more profitable for people forced out of work by government actions to stay unemployed rather than return to their jobs. This new government created crisis is making it near impossible for small businesses the government had forced to close as non-essential to re-open. It has been widely reported, and I have seen it up close, that it is more profitable to continue to suck on the government teet than to return to minimum wage jobs. As a result the small businesses already hurt by government actions are now hurt again.

CAN OUR GOVERNMENT AFFORD TO GO FURTHER INTO DEBT: At what point do you believe we, as a country, should return to fiscal responsibility? When I was a kid the word “Trillion” was comparable to a “Gazillion” basically meaning a number that would never be used realistically- synonymous with infinity. As recently as 1900 our national debt was just over 2 billion dollars ($2,136,961,091.67) according to thestreet.com. In 1946, as a result of World War II debt, it “skyrocketed” to $269,422,099,173.26. Nineteen eighty two was the first year the debt went over a trillion dollars, $1,142,034,000,000.00. Thestreet.com’s last number shown is for 2018 when the debt was listed at 21,516,058,183,180.20. WWW.statista.com estimates the US national debt at about 28.17 trillion dollars (May 07,2021) 3.2 trillion more than a year earlier. Forbes.com (May, 03, 2021) projects the national debt will approach 89 trillion dollars by 2029. I feel this requires a letter of apology to all of the adults of the future who will have to deal with this debt we allowed to accumulate by “accepting” outrageous deficits. What do you think?

IS THE WORD RACIST USED TO MUCH, AND IN AN INAPPROPRIATE WAY? Webster defines racism as: A belief that some races are by nature superior to others; also: discrimination based on such belief. Racist noun. Too often in our discussions of “Racism” in America, in my opinion, results are measured and labeled as racist if minorities do not achieve equal outcomes. Based on the “facts” often used against whites basketball could be called racist because there are more blacks allowed to participate than whites. An article written by Henrika McCoy that I found on Springerlink (August 7, 2020) stated there was “racial terror against Blacks during the pandemic.” What racial terror against Blacks?- No need to explain, I guess. The article continued, “The boiling over of racial tensions encouraged by the president” (Trump at the time). Any proof, not needed here either it seems. In my opinion articles like this, and there are thousands of examples encourage racism, a racism we never speak about. The racism I’m talking about is the belief among some blacks that all whites are racist. This feeling, again my opinion, comes from articles like the one I’ve cited based on feelings without facts. As a cop for 35 years I was subjected to this form of racism many times. I stopped a black woman for running a red light. The woman immediately told me she felt she was being stopped only because she was black (I couldn’t see what color she was prior to the stop due to tinted windows). She went on to demean me and verbally abuse me during the encounter. She asked me to call the fire department because she was a diabetic (investigation showed she was not). When the FD arrived she refused treatment because we were all white men. I arrested her for driving under the influence of alcohol after an investigation. She said she has never drank alcohol, despite the two quart bottles of cold beer I found on the front seat of her car in which she was the only occupant- one half empty. I asked her, after several hours of her verbal abuse, why she kept calling me a racist. She said because I was white. She then followed up with the statement, “All whites are racists.” I found an article on atheist-cvnt.medium.com (2/22/18) that noted, “Yale University, will officially be rolling out ‘the problem with whiteness’ as a course for their 2018 teaching of Africana Cultural Studies, according to a syllabus obtained by The College Fix and the course listed on their own f****** website.” Nobody is citing this as racism because, in my opinion, our woke society does not recognize any racism other than white on black.
