A POEM FOR MY SON WHO DIED TOO YOUNG!

HEAVENLY PEACE

heaven, clouds, cloud shape-3335585.jpg

AS I LIE IN BED

AWAITING SLEEP

I THINK OF PROMISES

TO KEEP

I PRAY FOR LOVED ONES

LONG DESEASED

AND THOSE WHO RECENTLY

HAVE FOUND THEIR PEACE

I PONDER HEAVEN

MY EARTHLY GOAL

I PRAY ALL MY FAMILY

IS ON THE ROLL

IS ATTENDANCE CALLED THERE

NIGHT AND DAY

ARE THE STREETS ALL GOLD?

OR ARE THEY CLAY?

DO THE HEAVENLY HOSTS

SING PERPETUALLY?

DOES GRASS GROW THICK

‘NEATH SHADY TREES?

DOES MY SON SMILE AT ME

FROM HEAVEN ABOVE?

My son and me.

CAN HE SEE MY HEART ACHES

WITH FATHERLY LOVE?

IS HE ALLOWED TO LISTEN

AS I PRAY HE’S AT PEACE?

DOES HE SMILE IN SUPPORT

AS MY TEARS INCREASE?

I KNOW THERE’S A HEAVEN

I BELIEVE THAT IS TRUE

I PRAY TO LIVE THERE WITH FAMILY

WHEN THIS LIFE IS THROUGH
