We are a society that is supposed to be based on limited government. A society in which the majority opinion is followed, but all are treated fairly. And, most importantly, a society that is “Of the people, by the people and for the people.” Yes, we, the citizens, are the boss!
I’ve read books on the founding fathers and how they struggled to stop government overreach. They ingeniously provided us with a political system that provided checks and balances designed to keep any one faction of the new government from controlling the citizens it was empaneled to serve.
We vote for members of congress, the house and the senate. The United States Congress is one of the three branches of our government.
Each member serves for a limited time and must run for re-election if it is their desire to continue to serve as a representative. The citizens, who originally elected them, have an opportunity to evaluate their accomplishments and ALLOW THEM THE PRIVILEDGE OF SERVING ANOTHER TERM if those they serve feel they are worthy. These voters also have an opportunity to elect a different candidate if they were not satisfied with the incumbent’s performance.
The power that members of congress have is limited by the president. The president represents a second branch of the government. The president must approve, and sign bills written by congress. The founders went further though. Seeing that there could be collusion between congress and the president, the men who had just rebelled against a government that did not allow representation, empowered a third branch of government. This third branch was the judicial branch. If any citizen feels they were convicted of violating a law that is not in compliance with their constitutional rights, that citizen may appeal the conviction to a local appellate court. If they are successful in that appeal the conviction shall not stand. If the appellate court finds in favor of the state, the subject has a right to appeal to The United States Supreme Court, whose ruling will be final.
I believe these “Checks and balances” are the main reason The United States of America is the greatest country in the world.
In order to remain a free and prosperous country, however, citizens are obligated to exercise their rights. If a law is passed that violates any constitutional mandates, it will remain a law until some citizen challenges that law in the courts. Therefore, I state here, that it is not only a right, but also an obligation to challenge unconstitutional laws and mandates.
I have a list of laws and mandates that I believe have harmed the majority and pander to the minority. I hope these laws or mandates will be challenged in court.
- Allowing “Transgender” subjects into bathrooms of their “chosen” gender, rather than their biological sex. MY REASONING: If this was a decision that had no possible adverse effects, I would still have a problem with it, but it is a problem that has adverse effects ranging from psychological trauma to sexual assault. According to a report released by The Williams Institute (UCLA) 1.6 million residents in the United States identify as “transgender” The Williams Institute also noted that only 6/10’s of one percent of U.S. adults identify as “transgender.” According to Google the population of the United States in 2020 (Most recent year available) was 329.5 million. As a police officer for over 35 years, I am aware of many unstable men who have taken advantage of women and girls by hiding in public women’s restrooms. Allowing biological men, who claim to identify as women, to enter public restrooms assigned to women gives them access to countless victims. The police are now powerless to remove a man from a women’s bathroom unless there is evidence that he has committed a sexual assault; I submit that is definitely too late, don’t you agree? Police who do act proactively could be charged with discrimination. I have argued about the adverse effects of such laws/mandates with people who picture a timid female trapped inside the body of a male. When this is the case, it is sad, and unfortunate. By the numbers I’ve listed above there are many more people who identify as their biological sex, almost 329 to 1. What about that large majority? Do they lose their rights? I am a father of four girls. When they were younger and had to go to the restroom when we were out, I walked them to the restroom and stood outside the door to make sure they were ok. If a man were to attempt to enter the women’s restroom, I could have directed them to the proper facility. If I did that today, I would be arrested. See more on this topic in my blog entitled “HOW FAR SHOULD WE GO FOR EQUALITY? DOES THE MAJORITY STILL HAVE A VOICE?”
- Allowing “Transgender” boys and men who identify as female to compete in girl’s and women’s sports. MY REASONING: I am against this decision 100%. The best example is Lia Thomas from University of Pennsylvania. She ranked 462nd (This was the highest ranking I found -Sports Illustrated 02/03/2022) in the nation when she competed on the men’s team. She is ranked #1 in many events swimming as a female. She explains that she is happier swimming as a female and gives that as the reason for her success. Oddly enough her times have not improved significantly as a female, only her national ranking and success rate have improved. In an article entitled, “TRANSGENDER HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETES SPARK CONTROVERSY, DEBATE IN CONNECTICUT (02/25/19) I learned that Andraya Yearwood, one of two “transgender” high school sprinters in Connecticut transitioning to female. “She recently finished second in a 55-meter dash at the state open indoor track championships. The winner, Terry Miller of Bloomfield High, is also ‘transgender.'” I found a quick summary of the situation in an on-line article entitled THE WIZARD OF VEGAS, the summary was, “This is not a matter of opinion. Simply look at the records and results for any given athletic (timed/measured) event for girls and boys and you will see that the girls get smashed almost every time.” I feel sorry for girls who have worked their whole lives to be the best in their chosen event, only to be beaten by a biologically superior male. The party that is pushing the “transgender” in sports agenda is the same party that claims to be sympathetic to all minorities. Looking at the facts, and lawsuits filed, I believe the female minorities effected will vote Republican from now on.
- Bringing Critical Race Theory into schools. MY REASONING: I am against it, completely! This is only a theory. It is not proven and, in my opinion, can never be proven. A part of the leaked curriculum states that all Whites are racist and must come to terms with that. I am White, and I am not racist (Which, according to CRT means I am racist because I deny being racist) I can’t imagine young children who are developing their self-image being subjected to that. It is outrageous and unacceptable.
- Bringing sex education including LGBT studies into K-6 schools. MY REASONING: This is being done in some areas and discussed in more. It is outrageous on every level possible. Young innocent children should not know anything about sex until they are ready. Ready, in my opinion, is when their parents see, by their behavior, that their child is ready. I raised 7 children and, even though they were in the same environment, they became curious at different times. I don’t want to trust any personal issues my grandchildren have to the government. Sex education has no place in grade schools. It should be left between the parents and their children. I am not the only person to have trouble with this. Virginia voters overwhelmingly changed their representation recently after a lengthy battle over school curriculum. During that debate the parents were told that they had no place in the educational process and should leave it to the professionals! They responded by voting many public officials out of office. That’s my suggestion for the midterms and the 2024 election! We, The People, not only have a place in the educational process, but we also have an obligation to be active and informed in all of the government processes.
- Mandatory vaccinations and vaccinations for children. MY REASONING: The pandemic was much ado about nothing. It was bad, a lot of people died and I’m sorry for those who died and those who had bad cases. The 800-pound gorilla in the room however is, we are giving up many of our freedoms to fight a pandemic that never showed up! Here is why I take this stand. I don’t believe we have gotten accurate numbers on those who actually died of Covid. I found a chart on Worldometer online for a blog I published 07/07/2020 (INTERESTING CORONAVIRUS FACTS). That chart showed that of the 3,732 deaths listing Covid on the death certificate only 99 were solely Covid, the others tested positive for Covid, but “comorbidities” were involved. As a police officer/evidence technician I was called to attend many coroner’s inquests and had never seen “comorbidities” listed on a death certificate. A KSBY report I located online included, “According to NBC affiliate KGW in Oregon, if you die in a car crash in that state and previously tested positive for COVID 19 that’s automatically considered a Covid 19 death.” The only reason I bring this up under a subsection of “Mandatory vaccines and vaccinations for children” is to point out the exaggerations used to force unnecessary restrictions of our freedoms. The main reason I am against mandatory vaccines and vaccinating young children are these. The death rate I found on Worldometer showed 0.06 for ages 0-17. Any vaccine can have unwanted side effects and this one is barely tested, in comparison to how a normal vaccine comes out. My daughters are in the childbearing age range. They told me of girls they heard of who were carrying healthy babies and told by their doctors to get vaccinated to protect their babies. They each did and lost the baby. This story does not prove the vaccine is bad, or dangerous, but with the risk of death for an unvaccinated baby considered, I would much rather go unvaccinated, wouldn’t you? The second reason is that mandating any vaccine is taking away our right to make our own medical decisions. I am not in favor of forcing vaccines as a rule but forcing a relatively untested vaccine that requires boosters and is still ineffective is ludicrous. The CDC has acknowledged that vaccinated people can still contract and spread the disease! What then is the reasoning behind forcing anyone to be vaccinated?
