IS THERE AN ANTI-CONSERVATIVE BIAS IN THE PRESS, THE INTERNET & CAMPUSES?

I have mentioned that articles appearing in the main stream media (MSM) are overwhelmingly negative towards President Trump. I just located a story that appeared in Investor’s Business Daily on October 10, 2018 citing 92% negative coverage. I haven’t seen much of a change, but even if there was a 20% improvement, which would be easily noticeable, we’re still looking at 72% negative press for a duly elected president. Trump is controversial, granted, but is he doing anything right? Not much according to the coverage.

I like Trump, he wasn’t my first choice, but he was a pleasant surprise once he got into office. He has kept his promises and that alone should bring him up to 50/50, don’t you think?

Well, at least we have Twitter. Trump, unlike most Republicans, was making effective use of that resource. I know, many people wondered out loud why he would Tweet what he Tweeted at times, but he used his posts successfully to by-pass the MSM and get his views out there. I suspect his use of Twitter helped him win the primary, and then the presidential election. I said he “was” making effective use of Twitter because the electronic media is now blocking him at times, and doing other things that make all conservative viewpoints hard to access.

Many conservative groups are complaining that posts they put up are taken down quickly or have warnings placed on them. Conservative talk show host Dennis Prager has filed lawsuits in state and federal courts reference unfair treatment he feels he received from Google and You Tube.

I believe that everyone has a right to hold their own opinion and to express it. I question if that right is readily available to all.

On college campuses the bastion of open dialogue and debate, you would think, conservative voices have been silenced. Conservative Professor, Josh Blackman, of South Texas College of Law in Houston wrote an article detailing a trip he made to City University of New York to give a talk on freedom of speech. In the piece he explains that liberal students, who did not want to hear what he had to say, loudly protested the event and he was not able to start his prepared statements.

An article by Richard Abel gives a small list of conservative speakers who met with resistance trying to address students after being invited to various colleges. The list includes: Ben Shapiro, Betsy DeVos, Charles Murray, Gavin McInnes and Senator John Cornyn. These potential speakers were met with protests and/or petitions to disinvite them. This list is a small sampling of the total.

In an article in the Los Angeles Times Mark Swed tells how two violinists attempted to organize a boycott when Dennis Prager, who also conducts symphonies, was invited to lead The Santa Monica Symphony in their performance of Haydn’s Symphony #51. The article goes on to call Prager a “divisive public conservative amateur musician..” He lists Prager as “divisive” because he espouses conservative views. I guess Swed subscribes to the school of thought that “You are allowed to say anything you want, provided it is not contrary to my belief, in which case it is not acceptable.”

This would not be bad if liberal persona’s were receiving the same treatment. I do not see any indication that they are, in fact, I see they are, in many cases, being coddled. Compare Hillary Clinton using an unsecured server while she was Secretary of State which put many top secret documents at stake to Donald Trump’s Russian collusion. Now consider the FACT that Clinton’s offense was proven and there was no credible evidence found against Trump. In fact, as that investigation progressed the evidence came back to Clinton and the Democrats.

How much have you heard about Hunter Biden? I’m sure you are aware that he had more than one million dollar a year job despite no qualifications. Was that a daily headline? Do you think it got the coverage it deserved? I don’t.

How much have you heard about Joe Biden’s mental health? Are you aware that at different times on this campaign he has said he was running for the senate, he said he was Jill Biden, he said he was glad to be in a town he was not in, and many more indications that he may be slipping mentally. Are you aware that he said Kamala Harris was running for president?

While Trump’s statements get “tagged as possible lies” Biden is allowed to say there is no truth to items found on his son’s laptop and that is treated as the gospel truth.

Are you aware that Joe Biden is not the presumptive president of the United States? He may be soon, but the votes aren’t all in and there are lawsuits pending in more than one court, in more than one state.

Do you think the fact that the biased media declaring Biden president will lead to dangerous riots if Trump’s lawsuits are successful? I do.

If any of what I’ve written above sounds right to you, do you think we have a big problem? I do.

We need a free, unbiased, press to have a free country. I am afraid that we are getting more propaganda than facts. With propaganda how can we make informed decisions? I don’t believe we can.
